Hydrating

Hydration is important morning and night: the primordial step in a routine that protects, strengthens, repairs, prevents signs of aging… Before going to bed, you can even take it a step further by using a product that’s also tightening, revitalising, repairing, firming, unifying… in a concentrated dose. The active ingredients, first of all. During the day, products generally work to preserve the hydrolipidic film and fight free radicals… At night, they work to strengthen and stimulate cell renewal… Night formulas also tend to be richer because the skin can more easily absorb them.

First hint: to follow your skin’s internal clock, it’s better to start your nightly routine when it’s dark out. Then, if the formulas absorb quickly, it’s good to wait a bit so the skin has time to start absorbing your products. Ten minutes before your head hits the pillow is an easy rule to go by!

As the last step of your nightly routine. This means you should apply it on clean skin (this is non-negotiable!) and after your targeted products, like lotion, serum… In fact, we use the term night cream, but it could also be an oil, a gel or even a mask!

Retinol is a molecule that’s been proven to fight against visible signs of aging by helping with cellular renewal. Even dermatologists recommend it. It’s technically a synthesized version of Vitamin A. Generally you apply retinol at night so your skin can take advantage of all its benefits, but also because it can be light-sensitive.
