Changed formula with cheaper ingredients

Unfortunately as other reviewers have noted, this new formula is NOT the same as the OG formula, which I loooved using. There is now barely any prickly pear seed oil in the formula and my hair no longer looks amazing using this. I have to search for new hair mask now !!

Does not smell like Prickly Pear at all!

First off, HATE the smell. It’s like floral old lady perfume and baby powder. I thought it was supposed to be Prickly Pear (which is my fave margarita flavor) but I don’t get that scent at all. I’m really big on smells. I prefer Moroccan oil and Coco and Eve hair masks. Aside from the smell, it’s not a good hair mask. Just make sure to leave on long enough, and really use a lot of product and rinse super well!

This is not the cult favorite original formula

Bought this when I was running out of my old one and thought that they had just changed the packaging. When I used it, my hair felt horrible. Waxy, heavy and dry. I dug out my old jar and compared the ingredients and they were completely different. Many of the ingredients were replaced by cheaper chemical ones or were moved to the bottom of ingredient the list, so in lesser amounts. Couldn't figure out why Christophe Robin would change the formula of this cult status mask. After some research, I discovered Christopher Robin sold his company to corporation that buys out luxury brands. Their mission statement on the purchase was that they wanted to lower the price of his products and mass produce to make it more accessible for people. In other words they replaced the high quality ingredients to make a cheaper product to increase their profits. All the positive reviews are for the original product, not this imposter.

BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA

The old version of this mask was HOLY GRAIL, and now unfortunately it's not. I've used most hair masks and nothing compared to the old version of this mask. Very sad that it doesn't work as well. No longer worth the price point. The old one actually made my hair look and feel healthier. This one is no better than any other average hair mask.

So soft but not my favorite scent at all

Definitely 100% leaves my hair very soft. The smell is so bad. Smells exactly like what some might call “old lady.” Not a fresh clean scent at all. At least the scent isn’t overpowering, it’s somewhat light. I got this in a fab fit fun box and I might buy it again since it definitely moisturizes and softens. Would be awesome if they could work on changing the scent somehow.

Curly girls dream

Wholly smokes. This mask is absolutely amazing. I got it in my FabFitFun box. This is a curly girls dream. I have a mixture of 3B/3A high porosity hair. This gives me the moisture I need, and leaves my curls so soft. Don’t recommend for anyone less then 3A hair. As it will be too heavy for you.

Rated 4 for the smell - otherwise basis great

I’m rating this a 4. Would be a 5 for the silky feeling that my hair has now however the smell is just putrid. It is like a powdery, pearly, musk. It is terrible. I rinsed it out after the allotted time and reconditioned with a better smelling conditioner. I do not want to smell that in my hair for a couple days. Eww. Otherwise the product itself made my hair soft, shiny, and almost completely tangle free (I have a lot of naturally curly hair but it’s fine in texture).

Hmmm I’m not so sure

I have thin hair. It seem to do the job. The smell is powdery musk. Reminds me of baby powder. The reason I gave it 4 stars because my Virtue mask is the same price and it does a better job. I hear so many good things about this brand so I tried it. I don’t mind alternating. I hate returning products. It hydrates but not enough. But the smoothing effect is at there. If your hair is in good or semi good this mask will do a great job. Damage and dry hair wasn’t as great.

Reformulated and no longer works

This *was* a great product. But they recently reformulated and it no longer works as well. If you compare the old ingredient list to the new one, it looks like they reduced the amount of prickly pear oil (listed as opuntia ficus-indica fruit extract). It went from near the top of the ingredient list to near the bottom. Very disappointing.
