Powermatte High-intensity Lip Pencil - Lápiz de labios

Waste of money.

I had high hopes for the NARS Powermatte High-Intensity Long-Lasting Lip Pencil, especially given its claims of bold, matte color with up to 12-hour staying power. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. While the pencil does deliver rich pigmentation and a smooth, creamy application that sets to a matte finish, it didn't last nearly as long as advertised. After just a few hours-far less than the promised 12-I noticed significant fading, especially after eating or drinking, which was disappointing for a product touted as transfer-proof and long-wearing. Another major issue for me was how drying it felt on my lips. Despite the brand's claim that the Power Pigment Complex provides comfortable wear, I found it exacerbated dryness, leaving my lips feeling parched and uncomfortable throughout the day. If you already have dry or chapped lips, this formula might not be the best fit unless you prep heavily with a balm beforehand, which could compromise the matte finish. The design itself also left me frustrated. Unlike some lip pencils with a twist-up mechanism, this one requires sharpening, which is fine in theory-but the "poor twisting device" you mentioned seems to hint at a broader issue. In my case, I assumed you might mean the lack of a retractable feature or a faulty design in some batches. Either way, sharpening leads to product waste, and I couldn't access the full amount of lipstick in the pencil, which feels inefficient for a premium-priced item (retailing at around $30). The need for a separate sharpener (sold separately) only adds to the inconvenience. Overall, while the color payoff and initial application are impressive, the Powermatte High-Intensity Lip Pencil didn't deliver on its long-lasting promise, left my lips uncomfortably dry, and has a design that makes it hard to use the whole product. For me, these drawbacks outweigh the positives, and I'd hesitate to recommend it unless you prioritize pigment over comfort and convenience.

Very poor design.

Not at all 12 hours stay, Very poor design. A swivel or twist design, where turning the base of the tube moves the lipstick up through a helical track is broken

Twist mechanism broken

I purchased 112 and agree with other opinions about getting a little dry after applying it, so it would not "bleed". 12 hours if you do not drink or eat, otherwise it is gone. The biggest problem I had was to twist the bottom that allows you to push the lipstick up for use. My husband had to use some pliers to turn the bottom, so I could use this pencil a little longer than 2 weeks.

Miss the velvet formulation

The cruella and dolce vita colors are/were perfect for me. But the new formulation colors are slightly off and I don't like the way it applies/feels as much as the velvet.

Nars is the only matte lipstick I wear

PLEASE BRING BACK THE VELVET FORMULA

The new formula of Dolce vita is just too pigment and the color is already different. The old formula is much more comfortable as I can build up the pigment w/o making my lips look like I just put tons of paint on them.

You will endlessly love it

This is my second Power Matte Lip Pencil in the color Endless Love. I'm impressed by both the texture and the color of the lip pencil. Even after eating, I didn't reapply it, and it stayed on my lips just as well as it did the first time I applied it.

Requires NARS specific sharpener

You have to have NARS sharpener. If you use another brand it won't work. I've never seen proprietary makeup like this. Usually I'm a fan of NARS.

The best lipstick eveeeer!

This lipstick has become my favorite! I've never used such a smooth lipstick, and to my surprise, after a few seconds, it turns completely matte and has incredible staying power! I wish the price were a bit more affordable so I could have all the shades because I'm simply IN LOVE with this product! #SWEEPSTAKES

Probably the most drying lip product I've ever tried

I LOVED the prior formula of the NARS lip pencils. This new formula is incredibly drying. I think it might be the most drying lipstick I have ever tried. It sucks all the moisture out of my lips and they stay for hours after taking off the lipstick. The Dolce Vita color is not quite the same as the old formula either - this one is slightly more bluish pink on me.

worse than the old Velvet Matte Lip Pencil

I don't even want to give this one star but there is no Zero Stars option. I loved the old Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, which was perfect, but now discontinued. It went on smoothly. And the color Damned was the best fuchsia lip color I've ever found. The new lip pencil version is awful- greasy feeling, smeary, and I can't find a comparable color. I will never buy this again.
