Best clarifying shampoo!

Fave clarifying shampoo! I use this at least 1 x per week and before getting my hair colored. It won’t weight your hair down. I use it for a first wash , and then follow with a more moisturizing shampoo, but have used it for both washes and my hair did not dry out.

I haven’t been wowed by K18 in the past (their famous hair mask did nothing for me) but decided to grab a free sample of this anyway because I’m still searching for a shampoo to replace my old holy grail, Amika Mirrorball (RIP). This photo is after testing the K18 Detox shampoo alone - without conditioner or any other products - and letting my hair air dry. Pros: my hair is *almost* as shiny as it used to be after using Mirrorball! It’s also super soft (I can’t stop touching it) and lightweight. It feels like my head just lost 10 lbs worth of oil and product buildup. Cons: I think it stripped away *too much* moisture, actually. My scalp is a little itchy/hot. It’s not bad enough to make me scratch, but it’s still uncomfortable. Overall, I’m really impressed with the results, but worry this formula is too harsh for me to use every wash day. I’d like to try it again with a conditioner to see if that counteracts the drying effect. I do think this is worth a try, especially if you struggle with an oily scalp! But if you’re like me and not ready to commit to buying a full bottle, I’ve discovered that K18 sells a mini version for half the price on their own site.

Sensitive Scalp Friendly

Finally I found something that works on my sensitive scalp! So far I’ve tried Quai, Dae, and Bondi Boost detox shampoo but none of them work on me. The Dae detox shampoo is super drying and make my scalp has tons of dandruff while the Quai shampoo makes my scalp very itchy. I highly recommend this product for anyone that has sensitive scalp and they’re looking for a color safe detox shampoo. If you have tried so many other brands but nothing works for you, give this shampoo a try to see if it helps you.

First ever shampoo review because this is perfect

I have long, thick, non color treated hair. My hair is about 15% white. The white hair is fairly textured, and the bottom of my long hair can get fluffy in a bad way. I thought my hair needed more moisture. So I was using deep conditioning products. But it turns out that my hair just had a lot of buildup from those products. So switching to a clarifying shampoo has given my hair and overall very silky feel. 

Unpleasant, but maybe needed?

I bought this shampoo as the K18 website instructions say that it helps the treatment mask to work better. When you pay such a high price for a product, you want it to work at its maximum potential! The shampoo is "charcoaly." The color, the smell, and the texture do not make for a pleasant sensory experience. I see it as strictly a necessary evil that I endure once a month to make sure I'm getting the most from my K18.

Freaky Color and Smell

Weird dark purplish gray color gives a charcoal vibe. By no means a pretty or fresh fragrance - almost faintly medicinal. Points are for how smooth & silky my hair felt when rinsing. Glad it was just a sample!

A great add-on to your routine.

This shampoo cleans all the oiliness from my roots and scalp, while leaving my hair feeling so soft and clean! I love it. It smooths my frizz while give my hair a silky texture. It’s one of the best shampoos you can get.

Good non drying detox shampoo

Great option for a non stripping detox shampoo but takes at least 2 washes to feel like your scalp is fully clarified. For people with oily scalps this shampoo doesn't reduce oil production.

Great shampoo to remove metal buildup and product build up. Used it the other day and worked loads better than olaplex one I have. So will continue using

I LOVE this shampoo! My hair is thick and I go a few days without washing. This cleanses my hair well and smells amazing. Love it!
